Group Discussion:

Group Discussion is widely used when the interviews to select the candidates. It involves 10 to twelve candidates in a group. Here, a certain topic or situation is given to a group, they will think about that, then they will discuss in a group themselves minimum 15 minutes. This is a good technique which is used to test the ability, behaviour and the attitude of the candidates. By the title itself, we can know it is a team activity, there we can share our ideas on topic.

Group Discussion is more effective than the normal test. It is one of the most popular method. Each candidates have to discuss about the topic which is given to them.

After you successfully completing your written test, Group Discussion may be conducted as a last round of selection by the management.

Points to remember:

  • It is important for a team manager. Because, manager has to work in group. At first, manager has to work as a member of a team. Then, as a leader. Management thinks who need to improve this skill they are not suitable for this.
  • Ability to give reason when you express your and believes is important in Group Discussion.


Attitudes in Group Discussion:

Behaviour and good conduct brings the leadership.

GD requires the spoken ability of the member.

You have to balance properly when you express and absorbing ideas.

If a candidate is not getting a chance to express their ideas, giving chance to express is a positive attitude.

Selection is based on the expression of candidate, express your ideas in a well manner, arguments will be audible to others, subject knowledge, interest towards the topic, logical approach are important.
